We can’t let them go broke.

We’re lucky to live in a city with a diverse group of theaters.  But, what if they disappear?  A few weeks ago, Creative Loafing’s Curt Holman wrote a tragic piece about the playhouses going broke (or near-broke) all around the city.  How many times have we thought about going to the theater, but, we’re too busy.  We’ll catch the next show, right?  What if we blink and they’re all gone?  Do you want to live in a world without the arts?

Donate what you can to your favorite playhouse.  And then, get out there and go to the theater, too!

Lets all get out there and fill up those empty seats.

Sirloin, brisket & hanger…. or was it sirloin, brisket & chuck?  We can’t remember.  It was a nice flavorful burger topped with a huge hunk of powerful blue cheese.  But, after viewing one of our favorite exhibits, we were hoping for something a bit more like this burger.

Peekytoe Crab Benedict

Nicely poached eggs, delicate crab, pretty greens and a dreadfully ordinary muffin.  Circles of toasted brioche would have added a pleasant lightness with a buttery yum in the background.

With an artist’s market, 2 days of music, games, the best pie bakeoff, festival food (yes, there will be corndogs) and plenty of beer for the adults, there’s a little something for everyone at this great East Atlanta festival!

What games you ask?  Tricycle races, a watermelon toss, the one-legged race, the flip-flop dash, cricket crunch, wiffle beer ball, bobbing for sea creatures, 48 hour frisbee, a pie throwing contest and a corn dog eating contest, of course!

790 The Zone [...]]]> Candler Park’s Midsummer Music Festival will offer an artist’s market with 40 local artists, live music, and festival food.  Purchase of a wrist band is required for those 21 and over to purchase alcoholic beverages at the event.  No coolers will be allowed in the event area.  Leashed pets will be allowed.

790 The Zone 5K begins at 10:00 am

The festival & music perfomances will begin at noon.

Cost:  Free entry — But, wristbands to purchase alcoholic beverages will be sold for $5.00 before 5:00pm and $10.00 after 5:00pm
