Start With A Bowl Of Popcorn Hot Dogs or… Chili Cheese Fries Flavors Turtle Sundae Turtle Sundae Someone Finished And, someone else didn’t. Other Monstrosities Thank you, Jaxson’s. (Again.) We grew up loving you. And, we’ll be back… …to feed the little kid that’s still hiding deep inside of us. Favorite Snack of the Year, Again Gokul Sweets Spicy Masala Peanuts Almost three years ago, we discovered these amazingly delicious spicy snacks in the glass covered case closest to the bakery counter register. We’ve been devouring them ever since. Now, this was a very close call. It could easily be a three-way tie between Gokul Sweets Masala Peanuts, Masala Cashews and Black Pepper Cashews. And, the masala spiced deep fried chickpea dough strips are pretty amazing, too. But, we tend to finish the peanuts first. So, the peanuts edged out the cashews for the win. Gokul Sweets Cracker Barrel’s Blueberry Pancakes “No sharing, get your own pancakes!” There is nothing light and fluffy about these pancakes. They’re made from a thinner batter. And, there’s a decadent buttery crispness to the edges. Be sure to remove that extra dollop of butter on top unless you’re a hard core butter fan/addict. Sapori Di Napoli’s Roadside Table View The Sapori di Napoli The Margherita Sapori di Napoli Peter Luger Steak House Old Fashioned Sauce This was an interesting find on our last trip to the Doraville H Mart. H Mart And, last but not least, the Elvis shrine… The Elvis Shrine Oh, yeah, there’s food, too… like this nachos bar. The Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken Breaded with crushed potato chips, topped with shredded cheese and served with canned pickled jalapeños on the side, it’s clear that this place is more about the Tex than the Mex. Steak Burrito with Hatch Green Chile Sauce The surrounding kitsch rubs off onto the food. There’s a distinctively weird retro thing going on with the food here. Maybe it’s the canned jalapeños, but, we both think this is probably what tex-mex food of the 50’s (or 60’s… or 70’s) tasted like. And Charro Beans Jalapeño Ranch Dip for the Chips Chuy’s, they’re doing their part to keep Austin (and now Atlanta) weird! Chuy’s Spindrift Sparkling Blackberry Soda 8 Blackberries & A Squeeze of Lemon The scent of fresh blackberries hit both of us before ever taking a sip. You really can see specks of blackberry in the bottle and suspended in the soda. We both fell in love with this fresh tasting soda that had loads of tart blackberry flavor with a lovely touch of lemon. What’s for Lunch?
